BORN IN THE RSA by Andreas Basson
The exhilarating production is a showcase of South African music and certainly a musical extravaganza to be proud of. Music director Fanie Fouche needs no introduction, while Justin Guy will make the drums tremble. Shaun van der Westhuizen and Al Loxton forms the backbone of the band on guitar and bass guitar. South Africa has a very impressive heritage of artists and amazing entertainers. In this production, the Performer acknowledges the successful artists locally and abroad - and gives the public the opportunity to experience this proudly South African showcase.
"If there is one thing we all have in common, it’s that we love our country’s spectacular music! From Impi drumming, to "Blouberg se strand"….from Gumboot dancing to Halala Africa…from Mamma Temba’s wedding to "Kaapse Klopse". This is to name but a few of the proudly South African songs that you will see in "Born in the RSA"’, reiterates production manager Christelle Webb-Joubert. Original music by David Kramer, Laurika Rauch, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Vici Sampson, PJ Powers, Coleski, Johannes Kerkorrel and many, many more well known South African artists, are featured.
Their songs are performed by our very talented cast members and live band. The show also brings tribute to Mutt Lange South African Born, now international writer and producer. Not everyone is aware of this, but he’s written and produced many worldwide hits. It’s with pleasure that we present some of his work, "When the going gets tough", "Loverboy" and "Get out of my dreams, get into my car". A must see… Celebrate with us the amazing sounds and lyrics of South Africa. Experience the spectacular music - where our forefathers, grandmothers, the farmers, the Impi’s and the Zulus all come together, take hands and sing, dance and act as proudly South African artists - and all Born in the RSA!
